Online Complementary Courses - the details

Online Complementary Courses: June 29 - July 21, 2021.

The following courses can be completed online from home or from wherever you have an internet connection (we hope you're someplace fantastic!).

Attendance requirements - June 29: Mandatory Online Orientation
Students will be scheduled in a 1.5-hour orientation course; students will be shown how to do an online course with GSACRD Summer School and will receive 1 credit towards their high school diploma. This time is extremely valuable, as it ensures that logins and access to course materials works for each student. Students will then communicate with their teachers via email. The courses can be accessed and completed from anywhere - as long as students can access the internet.

CALM
All CALM students can complete the course online after completing the orientation. There are daily assignments, and all work must be completed by July 21.

A teacher is available for virtual support from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Religious Studies
Students can complete the course online AFTER completing the mandatory orientation. They MUST complete 7.5 hours of service between June 29 - July 21, 2021. A supervisor must sign this form confirming the hours completed. (Students should plan to arrange to complete service hours during the mentioned dates, however this requirement may change. We take our direction from Alberta Health Services (AHS) and will continue to respond and act in-line with their recommendations.)

A teacher is available for virtual support from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Religious Studies 15 (3 or 5 credits)
  • Religious Studies 25 (3 credits)
  • Religious Studies 35 (5 credits)

Phys Ed
All online Phys Ed students can complete the course online. There are approximately 10 assignments and an activity log, where students must report 32 hours of completed activity for a 3-credit course and 64 hours of activity for a 5-credit course. Students must also complete a 2-hour leadership activity of their choice.

Students may contact their teacher online through school email or virtually between 8 a.m. and 1:00 pm on summer school days.
